简介:This early student short, made by Tsangari in Texas, begins just as Attenberg would years later – with a strange kiss. The kiss fills the entire frame: a woman’s tongue extracts tiny silver beads from a man’s mouth. Is it a dream? A dream within a dream? Or a world stranger than either? In this surreal landscape – part Alice in Wonderland, part educational film spoof – clothing, furniture, and space distort unpredictably. A disembodied narrator offers commentary with bureaucratic calm. Lizzie Curry Martínez stars in the lead role; she would later become Tsangari’s long-time collaborator on The Slow Business of Going. Behind the camera is Matthew Johnson, who would go on to edit many of her future films.
